Ephemeral, Hyper-Personalized UIs

October 2026

I think we鈥檙e approaching the point in time where UIs will be ephemeral and hyper-personalized, generated for a particular person, task, and moment. Imagine LinkedIn organized around your preferences and the areas you鈥檙e particularly interested in. Today, you want to scroll through LinkedIn jobs like matches on Tinder: swipe left to save, right to reject. Tomorrow, you just want a two-minute briefing on the updates that matter to you.

We鈥檒l have more freedom to shape these experiences, even as we use the interfaces less. More interactions will happen agent-to-agent and agent-to-API. For many tasks, we鈥檒l simply tell our personal agent what we want by voice. As it comes to understand how we operate, it will also handle more things and proactively surface information through custom UIs.

The latest Personal Agent Protocol announcement from Meta and Sierra is yet another building block in that direction. There have been other open standards and protocols moving in a similar direction: MCP with its OAuth 2.1 support, ACP for shopping, AP2 for payments. PAP, of course, intends to cover a broader range of tasks beyond commerce and payments, standardizing how personal agents interact with businesses through their websites, APIs, and company agents.

Pretty early, of course. Yet to be seen if PAP actually sticks, but it鈥檚 clearly indicative of the direction we鈥檙e heading towards.
