Engineering the process of thinking

An interesting way to think about engineering AI is that it is becoming more like engineering the process of thinking itself.

Before, engineering was mostly about telling a machine how to execute something step by step. Now, with AI, a lot of the work is about how to structure the thinking process around a task. How does the system understand the goal, gather context, break the problem down, use tools, recover from mistakes, and decide what to do next.

So in some sense, we are moving from engineering execution to engineering structured thinking.
